Since the first employees were dispatched to Hamburg in 1957, Toray has started business operation in EU. As of December 2022, we have 29 group companies spread across 11 countries in Europe with over 4,400 employees.

In line with the long-term and medium-term corporate vision announced by Toray Japan HQ, Toray Group in Europe is also working strategically to expand its business in the growth countries and regions it covers. In last decade, we have promoted M&A in Europe intensively eg. Euro advanced carbon fiber composites GmbH in Germany in 2011, Zoltek Zrt in Hungary & Composite Materials (Italy)S.r.l. in Italy in 2014, Toray Resin Europe GmbH in Germany & Greenerity GmbH in Germany & Delta-Tech S.p.A. in Italy in 2015, Toray Advanced Composites Netherlands B.V. in 2018, Alva Sweden AB in 2019(who has 2 subsidiaries in Portugal and Tunisia).

Now we are actively expanding our business all over the Europe area, including North Africa.

In response to global movements towards environmental issues, in July 2018, Toray Group announced the Toray Group Sustainability Vision, declaring its long-term determination to provide innovative technologies and advanced materials that help global issues including climate change. In the vision, Toray Group declared its aim of “a net zero world, where greenhouse gas emissions are completely offset by absorption,” effectively cutting greenhouse gas emissions to zero by 2050.
