Message from Chief
Representative for Europe

Welcome to the Toray Europe website.

Since the first employees were dispatched to Hamburg in 1957, Toray has started business operations in Europe. As of April 2025, we have 32 companies, with over 4,300 employees within the Toray Group in the region.

In line with the long-term and medium-term corporate visions formulated by Toray Headquarters in Japan, the Toray Group in Europe has strategically focused on expanding its footprint in growth countries. Over the past 15 years, we have actively pursued mergers and acquisitions to strengthen our capabilities. Notable mergers and acquisitions include euro advanced carbon fiber composites GmbH in Germany (2011), Zoltek Zrt. in Hungary (2014), Composite Materials (Italy) S.r.l. in Italy (2014), Greenerity GmbH in Germany (2015), Delta-Tech S.p.A. in Italy (2015), Toray Advanced Composites Netherlands B.V. in Netherlands (2018), and Alva Sweden AB in Sweden, with subsidiaries in Portugal and Tunisia (2019).

Guided by the strong sense of unity rooted in the Toray Philosophy, our European operations have extended their reach into North Africa and the Middle East, engaging in a wide range of business activities across all of Toray’s core fields – Fibers & Textiles, Performance Chemicals, Carbon Fiber Composites Materials, Environment & Engineering, and Life Sciences.

In response to global environmental challenges, the Toray Group announced the “Toray Group Sustainability Vision” in July 2018. This vision underscores our commitment to delivering innovative technologies and advanced materials that address global issues such as climate change. The Toray Group has declared a goal to achieve a “net zero world”, where greenhouse gas emissions are completely offset through absorption, aiming for carbon neutrality by 2050.

Since its founding in 1926, the Toray Group has aspired to be a corporate entity respected by society. In 1986, our management philosophy was formalized with the introduction of the Corporate Philosophy – “Contributing to society through the creation of new value with innovative ideas, technologies and products”, serving as the guiding principle of our operations. This philosophy has been refined over time and was succinctly summarized in the “Toray Philosophy” in 2020.

As we approach our 100th anniversary in 2026, we remain committed to our vision of innovation, sustainability, and societal contribution.

I sincerely hope that you find our website informative, and that it deepens your understanding of the Toray Group’s mission and values.
